Films and Discussion — Colombian Connection: State Violence Shorts

-

Location: DeBartolo Performing Arts Center

The Racial Justice Collective of Colombia, as an organization that defends human rights with a Black perspective, handles legal defense cases of young people murdered by the police in Colombia and has important advocacy work to make reforms of racist policies in the country. They also make movies. Their activists/filmmakers will be in conversation with BLM South Bend after the short films they have created on state violence, particularly at the hands of Colombian police, are screened alongside short films from the United States. After the shorts program, members from Racial Justice Collective of Colombia and BLM South Bend will discuss the similarities between their two home areas and place it in a broader intersectional discussion of police violence and how film can be used to end it.
