1200x675 Son Rise

Vibha Bakshi, the film’s director and producer, is scheduled to speak in person at the screening.

Son Rise is a documentary from the strongly patriarchal state of Haryana, bordering India's capital, New Delhi, where the dwindling female population has provoked unprecedented levels of sexual violence against women. Exploring these darkest corners, filmmaker Vibha Bakshi discovers that all is not lost: some men are rising to fight for women's justice and gender equality. Son Rise won the prestigious National Film Awards for Best Film (non-feature) and Best Editing (non-feature) awarded by the President of India.

United Nations Academic Impact has selected "Son Rise" for the promotion of human rights through 1,400 higher education institutions in 147 countries. The film is being showcased as part of the UN's global #HeForShe movement across 71 countries.
