Hollings Center Panel Full Small

This international public forum aims to both dispassionately analyze and constructively reimagine Muslim politics amidst polarizing culture wars in a rapidly changing global order. Panelists will share perspectives around the following questions:

  • In the context of a shifting geopolitical order from unipolarity to multipolarity, what direction will political Islam take globally?

  • What parallels are there between culture wars raging in Western societies and Muslim majority countries?

  • How will the "Islam vs. the West" discourse be reshaped as the direction of history oscillates back from West to East?

Welcome by Scott Appleby, the Marilyn Keough Dean, Keough School of Global Affairs, and moderated by Peter Mandaville, senior advisor for Religion and Inclusive Societies, United States Institute of Peace
