Negotiating food security and development in Afghanistan requires innovative approaches to avoid legitimating the sanctioned Taliban regime while simultaneously fostering sustainable, community-led development rather than simply providing international handouts. How can the international community, working with local communities in Afghanistan, facilitate such an approach?

Join us for a panel discussion to hear insights from experts. Panelists will explore how to facilitate the direct and meaningful participation of affected people and communities in food security and development. They will analyze the future of humanitarian and inclusive development in Afghanistan with a focus on the participation of poor and marginalized communities.

Drawing on the widely touted successes of Afghanistan’s National Solidarity Program and the Citizen’s Charter Program, panelists will provide recommendations for an effective aid architecture in the short-term, as well as approaches for inclusive development initiatives in the medium-term.

This event is presented by the Keough School of Global Affairs.
