About the Presenter

Professor Ana Catarina Teixeira holds a Ph.D. in Portuguese and Brazilian Studies from Brown University. She is the director of the Portuguese Program, senior lecturer in Portuguese, and core faculty in the Institute for African Studies at Emory University. 

Her primary research and teaching interests are in the areas of postcolonial and cultural studies, with a focus on the formation of national identity in post-independence Angolan narratives and the literary and cinematographic connections of the Luso-Afro-Brazilian triangle.
