Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades has designated Friday, October 5, 2018, as a Diocesan Day of Prayer and Penance.
“I invite everyone and all our parishes, schools and institutions” said Bishop Rhoades, “to observe this day of dedication to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, praying and fasting for the victim-survivors of sexual abuse and for their healing, while asking for God’s mercy on the whole Church and for the grace of purification and renewal during this difficult time.”
Campus Ministry invites all members of the Notre Dame campus community to pray for the victims of clergy abuse. As part of this day of prayer, Eucharistic Adoration will be held in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart from noon to 5 p.m. and the Basilica bells will ring from 3-3:15 p.m. in solidarity with all victims.
