When millions of Syrians were displaced from their homeland after years of bloody civil war, the media covered the event for only a few weeks before moving on. This transition in coverage, however, did not correspond to a change in the status of refugees now housed in camps throughout the world with few resources and little help on the horizon. Come discuss the current status of refugees – their health, wellbeing, and potential futures – and what can be done locally to aid in this crisis.
Discussion will be led by members of the Globe Med student club in collaboration with the Center for Social Concerns to create ongoing learning about the Catholic Social Teaching theme, “Living the Challenge of Peace.”
