CUSE and the Sorin Scholars present the 4th Annual Sorin Scholar Lecture featuring award winning professor Maria McKenna.

Maria McKenna is an associate professor of the practice with a joint appointment in the Department of Africana Studies and the Education, Schooling, & Society program. Her teaching focuses on the social, cultural, and philosophical contexts of American education, educational care, and youth empowerment. Maria received a 2015 Rev. Edmund P. Joyce, C.S.C., Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching and the Reinhold Niebuhr Award for Social Justice in 2017.

McKenna will devote her lecture to the topic of how to pursue an engaged, personally fulfilling, and socially impactful undergraduate experience while at Notre Dame. The lecture will conclude with a student panel to answer questions about engagement at Notre Dame. The lecture will be held in Hesburgh Library’s Carey Auditorium, next to Au Bon Pain.
