This conference will utilize a novel format designed to create dialogue between U.S.-based and Brazilian scholars. The day-long event will be held simultaneously at the Kellogg Institute for International Studies at the University of Notre Dame and at the Graduate Program in Political Science at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in Brazil. Presentations and discussion will be live-transmitted via videoconferencing technology. Five papers will be presented in Brazil, and five in the United States, with a mix of papers from graduate students and faculty members in each location.
The conference will have no registration fee, and will be held Wednesday, April 5. Note this is the day prior to the start of the Annual Meeting of the Midwest Political Science Association. The train ride from Chicago to South Bend, Indiana is an hour and a half, so participants are encouraged to arrive Tuesday afternoon/evening on the train from Chicago, and to return to Chicago Wednesday after the conference. Travel support may be available to presenters.
