Crime, Blood, and Laughs: The Coen Brothers
Directed by Joel Coen
With Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Julianne Moore
Rated R, 117 minutes
Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski (Jeff Bridges) remains one of the most iconic film characters of all time. His penchant for bowling, white Russians, CCR, and casual comfies makes him an easy Halloween costume in a pinch, and the connection many fans feel to The Dude has almost a spiritual element to it. The ease with which he lives life is a perfect foil to one of the more convoluted comedy noir plots of all time that involves mistaken identity, kidnappings, nihilists, and a very nice rug.
