Released five years after the events on September 11, 2001, United 93 was a film largely supported by the families of the people depicted in the film and, further, received largely positive critical responses, including a Best Director Oscar nomination for Paul Greengrass. Now twenty years after its release and on the 25th anniversary of the tragedies, revisiting this film that utilizes a real-time framing device to bring audiences into the world of a doomed flight is a good exercise both for remembering the people indelibly impacted by 9-11 and also understanding how films and television continue to shape a world's memories and opinions of that day.
