Classics in the Browning

The hot topic of female obsession, spurred on by Obsession, has been captured in movies multiple times. One of the most beloved and unsettling depictions of obsession came with the adaptation of Stephen King's novel Misery by Rob Reiner. The movie catapulted excessive fandom (and phantom ankle pain) into the zeitgeist and netted Kathy Bates a Best Actress Oscar for a role not normally smiled upon by Academy voters. Bates plays Annie Wilkes, a superfan of famed bodice ripper writer Paul Sheldon's (Jimmy Caan) work who pushes him to write again.
