Not Rated, 95 minutes
Director Bruce Brown was himself a surfer with insight into the tight-knit community of waveriders (and wavecrashers). Brown took up his camera and followed two young American surfers (Mike Hynson and Robert August) as they attempted to move between hemispheres for an entire year, thus creating an endless summer and an endless supply of waves to surf. The result is a fascinating travelogue with ports of call in Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Hawaii, Senegal, Ghana, and South Africa. The Endless Summer delivers a ton of surfing action along with an iconic soundtrack by The Sandals and Brown's narration that has a style that has itself been copied endlessly.
