Through making his biopic about Elvis Presley that he released in 2022, Baz Luhrmann went in search of never-before-seen footage from the Elvis on Tour and Elvis: That's the Way It Is performances. After uncovering 68 boxes worth of film from Warner Bros. salt mine deep storage, Baz Luhrmann had plenty of raw materials for both a concert film and a documentary and decided not to insert it into the Austin Butler version. Instead, he created EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, which folds backstage footage into a concert film to create a broader picture of one of America's most important icons while also delivering plenty of the goods that made Elvis the best.
