Come join the University Writing Program for a screening of Deaf President Now!, part of the What Would You Write For? series. The film documents the historic 1988 student protests at Gallaudet University that demanded the appointment of the university’s first deaf president. This documentary about advocacy invites the viewers to consider how rhetoric operates within social movements and public life. Following the screening at Browning Cinema, audience members will be invited to participate in a Q&A discussion exploring the rhetorical strategies, ethical complexities, and forms of communication that shape activism and collective action. Free concessions will be provided.
