In this work-in-progress seminar, Alejandro will present Chapter 5 of his dissertation, which is titled "Republican Education and the Foundations of Social Liberty." His dissertation analyzes the political theory of Simón Bolívar, and this chapter explores the educational program that he enacted in Bolivia in 1826. It's main focus is on Simón Rodriguez, Bolivar's friend and former teacher, who was charged with setting up the foundations for Bolivia's educational system.
