Join the Medieval Institute for its nineteenth annual Mellon Colloquium on "Clerics, Courts, and Legal Culture in Early Medieval Italy." The colloquium is a half-day public seminar discussion with the institute's 2019–20 Mellon Fellow, Prof. Michael Heil, on his book-in-progress, joined by respondents Warren C. Brown (California Institute of Technology), Abigail Firey (University of Kentucky), and Maria Cristina la Rocca (Università degli studi di Padova). The colloquium will be held remotely by Zoom.

Michael Heil is assistant professor of history at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and during his year at the Medieval Institute he will be completing his book manuscript, Clerics, Courts, and Legal Culture in Early Medieval Italy. Heil received his Ph.D. in 2013 from Columbia University.
This event is the rescheduled spring workshop, which was postponed as part of Notre Dame's response to coronavirus.
