Care for Our Common Home: Celebrating St. Francis of Assisi and the 5th Anniversary of Laudato Sí

Campus Ministry and the Office of Sustainability will recognize and celebrate the spirit of St. Francis and the call of the Holy Father in Laudato Sí, which celebrates its 5th anniversary in 2020. This event will tangibly work toward caring for our common campus home through prayer, service, outreach, education, and a sustainable DIY project (making reusable dining hall bags from old T-shirts).

3:00-3:20 p.m. Prayer Service at the Grotto

3:20-3:30 p.m. Establish working groups for campus clean-up -- meet west of the Grotto (campus road/St. Mary’s Road lawn)

3:30-5:00 p.m. Campus clean-up projects -- trash pick up and storm drain “release”

5:00-6:00 p.m. Care for Our Common Home celebration: DIY projects on South Quad near Coleman-Morse Center

  • Make reusable dining hall bags from old t-shirts -- Bring your own t-shirt or get creative with a few extra T-shirts provided by Campus Ministry
  • Card-making for victims of recent environmental disasters
  • Information booths for Office of Sustainability, ND Energy, Minor in Sustainability
