Organ Recital: "Discovering Arthur Foote: The Forgotten Music of America’s 'Dean of Composers' "

-

Location: Basilica (View on map )

Patrick Kronner, the choral program director and organist, director of the Women's Liturgical Choir and Community Choir, invites you to join him for a brief recital which will explore the nearly forgotten works of Arthur Foote (1853-1937). At a time when America’s composers were struggling to find their national musical identity, Foote was recognized as one of the country’s leading educators, performers, and composers. Listeners can expect to hear Foote’s gift as a melodist in works such as “The Twenty-Third Psalm” (performed by a vocal quartet) and his fiery “Toccata for Organ.”
