Graham Johnson represents the pinnacle of the art song world, both as performer and scholar; Martha Guth is a rising soprano and winner of the Wigmore Hall Song competition. Together they will present works by four composers central to the genre: Schubert, Poulenc, Fauré and Britten.

Graham Johnson, whose set of complete songs of Franz Schubert on 37 discs for Hyperion Records is a milestone in the history of recording, has accompanied the world’s most distinguished singers; he is, according to The New Yorker, “the undisputed king of song accompanists,” for French, English, Spanish, and German art-song. In addition, he is the author of incomparably witty and profound books on Schubert, French song, Benjamin Britten, Gabriel Fauré, and (soon to come) Francis Poulenc.
Acclaimed for her “intuitive sensitivity,” “thrilling top range, rare breath control, and an awesome legato,” the Canadian-born soprano Martha Guth won the coveted first prize at the Wigmore Hall International Song Competition in London in 2007 as well as the Sorel Organization’s Emerging Artist Award and has sung at Lincoln Center and the Santa Fe Opera, among many other venues.
