First year DMA student, Howard Eckdahl, will conduct the Concordia Choir and Ritornello Ensemble in his first degree recital, The Life and Lamentations of David. Follow the arc of David’s biblical narrative through a cappella settings of psalms from the renaissance, baroque verse anthem, and 20th-century concert pieces. Readings will complement the music and tell the story of David: his lowly origins, his rise, reign, sin, and grief. Featuring Purcell’s Jehovah, quam multi sunt hostes mei and Whitacre’s When David Heard.
