"The Call of Public Service: Civil Rights, Legal Advocacy, and the Racial Integration of the American Workplace"

Presented by Russell Lovell, Professor Emeritus of Law, Drake University. Russell Lovell taught constitutional and civil rights law at Drake Law School for nearly forty years. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame (BBA '66) and the University of Nebraska College of Law (1969), he has also spent over four decades practicing public interest law, specializing in federal court civil rights litigation ranging from prisoners' rights to school desegregation to workplace equality, including service as lead counsel in cases that desegregated the Indiana State Police Department and the Des Moines Fire Department.

Higgins Lunchtime Labor RAPS (Research, Advocacy, & Policy Series) feature experts--scholars, activists, and policymakers--exploring the past, present, and future of work, in the U.S. and beyond. All Notre Dame community members are welcome, and lunch is provided for those who RSVP.
