"Out of the Ashes: Notre Dame Ceramic Art Symposium"

(part of a series)

Location: Snite Museum of Art (View on map )

Milly and Fritz Kaeser Mestrovic Studio Gallery
January 22 through March 5, 2017

For one week in October 2016, twelve ceramic artists worked together in the Notre Dame ceramic studios. In addition to making their own signature ceramic artworks, the artists interacted and collaborated with each other through the course of the five-day symposium. In early November their new clay works were fired in the Notre Dame wood-fired anagama kiln, which is located at the Michigan studio of ND Professor of Art, William Kremer.

Selected finished works created during this symposium, and related materials, will be the focus of this exhibition in the Snite Museum of Art. The twelve participating artists are: Bede Clarke; Keith Ekstam; Dale Huffman; Bill Kremer; Dick Lehman; Tony Marsh; Scott Meyers; Dan Molyneux, Lindsay Oesteritter; Ann-Charlotte Ohlsson; Dennis Sipiorski; and Zach Tate.

The symposium is made possible in part by support from the Henkels Lecture Fund, Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts, and the College of Arts and Letters.
